Taxon and occurrence details

Tapping any taxon or occurrence name in the Taxonomic Tree opens its Details screen, which displays all rich content associated with that record.

A breadcrumb bar at the top shows the full taxonomic path above the current taxon - for example, Reptilia > Squamata > Elapidae.

Detail tabs

The Details screen is divided into tabs. Only tabs that have actual data for the current taxon are shown. This depends on what the project author included.

Summary

Rich statistical summaries about the taxon - for example, the number of occurrences, the breakdown of distribution by region, or trait distributions across subordinate taxa. The content of this tab depends on what data the project contains, but at the very least will display taxonomic stats. This tab is always present.

Buttons linking to external databases and online resources, pre-filled with the taxon's name. Links depend on the project author and may include general databases like GBIF, iNaturalist, or project-specific databases such as particular herbaria or museums. Some links may only appear for specific taxonomic groups - for example, a link to a bird-specific database will only show for bird taxa.

Media

Photos and other visual media or sounds, all with captions. Tap any image for a fullscreen view.

Map

Distribution maps specific to this taxon. This tab appears when the taxon has either a static distribution map image or an interactive regional SVG map configured. Tap the map for a fullscreen view.

Text

Descriptive text - ecology, morphology, field notes, habitat, or any other richly formatted content the author has provided. Bibliography references cited within the text are rendered as formatted citations, clicking them shows the full reference.

On the Details screen, the hamburger button is replaced by a ← Back to search button that returns you to the checklist view with your filters intact.
